Ogni pietanza consumata dagli artisti è stata trasformata in una scritta al neon.
A ciascun testo è stato collegato un timer regolato sul tempo impiegato per la consumazione. Dall’aperitivo al caffè, per circa due ore, veniamo informati sull’andamento temporale della cena e sulla sequenza delle portate. A questa cena che si ripete all’infinito, è invitato anche lo spettatore: profumi e aromi e, tra una portata e l’altra, ci sembra di captare la conversazione tra Douglas e Jonathan. Avranno sicuramente riso, bevendo del buon vino rosso, e avranno ricordato i tempi di Glasgow o parlato di arte, di calcio e delle loro famiglie.
La traduzione dei singoli piatti in luce rimarca come in una cena non si tratti mai esclusivamente del cibo e della sostanza, ma soprattutto della parola.
Il ristorante è la sede di una performance e la galleria diventa un ristorante dove la luce gioca con l’aritmetica del tempo e la ripetizione non permette che la cena finisca e che la parola si spenga.
Questo è un progetto sull’ospitalità e l’accoglienza.
In galleria, durante la sera dell’inaugurazione, i due artisti, da barmen provetti, vi serviranno un cocktail del loro bar, il Friends Electric Bar.
In sottofondo la musica di Gary Numan, rivisitata al pianoforte.

All of this was washed down with: NEGRONI, RED WINE, WHITE WINE, SPARKLING WATER, COFFEE and GRAPPA.
Each dish eaten by the artists was transformed into a neon inscription.
Attached to each text was a timer adjusted for measuring the time required for eating the meal. From the aperitif to the coffee, for around two hours, we are informed about the passage of time of the dinner and about the sequence of the courses.
Spectators are also invited to this never-ending meal: fragrances and aromas and, between one course and the next, one appears to catch the conversation between Douglas and Jonathan. They have surely been laughing, while drinking good red wine, and recalling the time they were in Glasgow or they have been talking about art, football and their families. The translation of the individual dishes into light illustrates how, just like in a meal, it is never about just the food, but especially about “the word”.
The restaurant is the site of a performance and the gallery becomes a restaurant where the light plays with the arithmetic of time and the repetition does not permit the meal to end or the words to be muted.
This is a project on hospitality and hosting.
In the gallery, during the evening of the opening, the two artists, as experienced barmen, will serve you a cocktail from their bar, the Friends Electric Bar. In the background, you can hear the music of Gary Numan, reinterpreted on the piano.
