THE BINDING

THE BINDING è un progetto avviato nel maggio 2010 che presta particolare attenzione alla rilegatura del libro, alla qualità e alla varietà dei materiali e non esclusivamente al contenuto.

THE BINDING pone l’accento sull’idea di un libro come oggetto, mantenendone, contemporaneamente, la sua particolare natura di supporto della memoria. Allo stesso tempo, tenta di rimuovere qualsiasi legame in termini di materiale o tecnica.

L’artista può pensare di fare un libro senza i legami della stampa e del layout. Di solito un editore può decidere il “contenitore” che in un libro spesso sono le pagine o le dimensioni o il formato ecc. Nel caso di THE BINDING, gli artisti sono totalmente liberi di scegliere qualsiasi materiale, tecnica e rilegatura per la produzione di un libro.

THE BINDING is a project started in May 2010 which pays a special attention on  the binding of the  book and on the quality and the variety of the materials and not exclusively on the content. We’d like to put the accent on a book as an object, but we’d also like to keep the special quality of a book: its nature of support of memory. At the same time, we try to remove any bond in terms of material or technique. The artist can think of doing a book without the bonds of the printing and the layout. Usually an editor could decide the “container” which in a book often are the pages or the size or the format etc  In our case, the artists are totally free to choose any material, technique and binding for producing a book.
